Exclusive Interview With Duuvalll
Where are you from?
I’m from Jacksonville, Florida—DUUUUVALLL!
What inspired you to make music?
I’ve wanted to make music since I was a kid. My grandmother would always play Michael Jackson, and I’d listen so much that I started dancing like him. That’s when I realized I wanted to create music too, but my voice was still developing at the time, so it wasn’t quite there yet—LMAO. As I got older and went through school, my cousins started making music, and I’d hear my friends rapping in the hallways. What started as a fun hobby with my friends turned into something serious when I dropped a song that went semi-viral. That’s when I thought, “Maybe I really am built for this.”
What’s the title of your latest project, and what is it about?
My latest project is called Made My Own Stage. It’s about overcoming every obstacle in your path. I’ve experienced a lot of highs and lows in the industry and seen how many people don’t want you to succeed. This project is my way of saying, “Forget all the negativity and hate.” If I’m not welcomed with open arms, I’ll create my own stage and make my voice heard.
What have you accomplished?
I’ve accomplished quite a lot, and I give all the credit to God—none of this would’ve been possible without Him. I’ve worked with Quality Control, performed at multiple shows in Atlanta, connected with indie labels, partnered with their networks, and even landed some amazing features.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself as one of the biggest rappers and entrepreneurs in the game. I plan to use my music as a foundation to build an empire, helping others succeed by teaching them how to thrive as business professionals. It’s all about paving the way for the next generation.
